08 BET Awards
The 2008 BET Awards had some crazy performances this year! Chris Brown broke it down with Ciara. Rihanna took a bow. T-Pain brought out the carnival. Usher made love in the club. Ne-Yo got closer. Lil' Wayne got money. Keyshia got sent from heaven. And finally, Alicia Keys rocked out with En Vogue, SWV, and TLC! You can check out all of the performances here, as they are definitely worth your while.

Black & Gold

For once in a very long time, iTunes is offering a GOOD free single for this week. The song is called Black And Gold by Sam Sparro and it has a comfortable Daft Punk vibe to it. You can check out the music video below and see what you think.

Cool New Show Alert!
This fall, J. J. Abrams will create a new show for Fox called Fringe. This show will contain mixed elements of "The X-Files" and Paddy Chayefsky's "Altered States" with what Abrams calls "a slight 'Twilight Zone' vibe." It will focus on brilliant but possibly crazy research scientist Walter Bishop, his estranged son and a female FBI agent who brings them together. Episodes will explore self-contained mysteries of the paranormal, as well as the relationships between the three leads. From the trailer I just watched, it looks creepy and AMAZING! We'll just have to wait till fall to see how cool it really is.

Radio Killa

The-Dream has produced another hit! LL Cool J comes back this summer with the release of a new album, Exit 13, on August 5th. The first single is called Baby and features The-Dream. The song is very radio friendly, but LL Cool J hasn't been doing good on the charts and on the radio with his past few albums. Maybe this song is his saving grace? Download the song here!
One Of The Boys
One thing that I love is when an artist has no discretion in their lyrics. Perfet example would be newcomer Katy Perry. Ever since her first single I Kissed A Girl hit the radio, it seems that everyone is singing it in their heads. Katy Perry dropped her album One Of The Boys today and hopefully she won't become just another one hit wonder. If you liked her first single, you would probably also like Ur So Gay. Her music video for I Kissed A Girl is below, but you know what? There is no girls kissing girls in it!

Don't Step On Her J's

Ciara is coming back this year with her third album Fantasy Ride and the interesting thing is that she is releasing three separately packaged discs with around 5-6 songs each. The first disc is called "Groove City" and will contain sensual songs like "Promise," while the second disc is called "Crunktown" and includes tracks akin to Ciara's 2004 introductory single, "Goodies." Finally, the up-tempo "Kingdom of Dance" will showcase Ciara's house-leaning, freestyle-tinged cuts. Ciara will be working with producers such as Danja, Tricky Stewart, and of course Lil' Jon. I am very excited to see how this goes and hope it does well for her sales. Meanwhile, you can catch Ciara on Nelly's newest music video for Stepped On My J's alongside JD.
Tha Carter III
Wow, it has been a while since I have posted and I am sorry, however, finals are to blame as is my first 40 hour work week in god knows how long. Anyways!!! Lil' Wayne dropped his newest studio album Tha Carter III this past Tuesday, and according to reports, his sales are expected to be between 850,000-950,000 in its first week! To put that into perspective, Mariah Carey's E=MC2 album only sold 463,000 in its first week and currently holds the record for this year. I guess its' hard to say hip hop is dead when sales like this go down!

Her Declaration
Ashanti's back, with a new album, and a dark, dark music video. Her latest single The Way That I Love You off her new album The Declaration is amazing and really displays her vocals, but after watching the video for it, I guess I didn't understand what she was really singing about. I guess I was just totally caught off guard. Tell me what you think..

Karma's A B*tch
As Alicia Keys sang, "What goes around, comes around, what goes up, must come down." and you know what, it is a universal truth!! As you know, I have been watching the Real World: Hollywood and I have been so against this one room mate in the house Greg. He is the most cocky, self-absorbed person I have ever seen, it makes me happy that I don't live in that house with them because I would probably fight with him till the point that I get my ass kicked. This week, however, karma came back at him just when he least expected. He has been pranking roommates (who he calls "Peasants), disrespecting females (who he calls "Associates") and treating his job there as if it is optional. Well, guess what, it's not optional and "You're fired!" And when you get fired off your job in the show, your ass gets sent home!! (back to Florida for you Greg!) Watch all the craziness below..

New Common!

Common is back, and this time I think he will be bigger than ever. He is going for a more club-friendly album and that always seems to increase sales. For his first single he has hooked up with none other than Pharrell to produce a hit. With Common's lyrics and this crazy beat, I don't see why it wouldn't go far, but we will just have to wait and see. Hear the song below!
Gaga
My brother recently texted me about this song that I thought would be absolute crap considering the artists name was Lady Gaga, however, after listening to the song, I realized that I absolutely loved it! The song is produced by Akon (hence the yelling of Konvict at the beginning) and features Colby O'Donis who you may know from his song What You Got that was recently all over the radio. After watching her video it seems to me like she is a blend of Gwen Stefani & M.I.A. and I hope she pumps out some more good music soon! Check out the song Just Dance below:

2 Killer Performances
Do you ever get chills when listening to music?? Well, listening to Coldplay really does that for me. During the 2008 MTV Movie Awards Coldplay performed Viva La Vida and they honestly killed it. It's really sad when one live performance makes you not like someone because you realize that they actually have no talent, but it is quite the opposite for Coldplay. Check out their performance below:
The other performance at the 2008 MTV Movie Awards was the Pussycat Dolls. When I first heard their new song I honestly thought it was quite shitty, but after watching this, I realize that it is not that bad! I don't think Nicole Scherzinger could ever do any wrong, and I want to see her mess up something, but she is just too flawless. It was sad to see that her solo effort went down the drain when the radio wouldn't pick up her singles, but I think it was for the best because as the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls, she does incredible work. Check out their newest single When I Grow Up performed below:

To The Left, To The Right

Madonna has just released her music video for her newest single from Hard Candy called Give It 2 Me. The video features much of Pharrell, who produced this song as well as most of the album, and involves her dancing in front of mirrors, which she frequently does in her videos. The song is pretty amazing but the video is alright. Then again, she is 50, so props to her for still dominating the charts.
The Ones You Weren't Supposed To See
So apparently there is more than one music video to Kanye's hit Flashing Lights. I was very confused when I ran across one the other day that was not familiar, but had Kanye in it, and was in my opinion way better than the official released version. I decided to do some research and read on Kanye's blog that he did actually shoot 3 videos for it and only decided to release one and release the others later on a DVD. For your viewing pleasure, I have all 3 right here! My personal favorite is the second version, very cryptic. However, I feel the 3rd one portrays the actual song meaning the best.
